BLUE LOTUS ABSOLUTE

Nymphaea caerulea, or “Blue Lotus,” is a plant known today as Water Lily. Because of its extract, Blue Lotus was considered the most important (ritual) plant of ancient Egypt. Water Lilies were wildflowers growing in fishing ponds and close to the banks of the Nile. Egyptians also planted it into settlement wells and temple fountains. The Blue Lotus became very popular for its enchanting beauty and also for its positive psychoactive effects. It was used in ceremonies regarding death and also birth.

The Blue Lotus was a sacred plant and was traditionally used to relieve mental pain and create a feeling of well-being and euphoria because it could increase blood circulation. It was considered a potent aphrodisiac. Some cultures used it as a symbol of Patience. It contains Aporphine and an anti-spasmodic called Nuciferin. Its scent increases intuition abilities. One can say that the Ancient Egyptians used Blue Lotus the same way people use Cannabis in modern times.

When used or mixed in products, we advise dosing caution, as it is a pure concentrate with a highly intense smell. Dilute 0.5 – 2% of the oil in massage oil, mixed in water for the evaporator, for potpourri, as a perfume, 3 – 5 drops for a bath.
